    I disagree!! My bank has no reason to tell me this if it was not true!!! Obviously they didn't actually close it, but they did instruct the bank to do so.

    No but they can freeze the account! I made the mistake of leaving nearly £500 in a ltd business account many years ago and asked for the company to be removed. Companies house then froze the money in the account and I couldn't get it out. I spoke to Companies house a number of times but couldn't resolve it!
