Im new here so hope im posting this in the right place!!
Just a quick question really when my fiance and I took out our mortgage with northern rock nearly 3 years ago they sent us all our documents but automatically insured us on their property insurance. We didnt want to insure our house through them and as far as we were aware never said we wanted to. so anyway we wrote saying no we didnt want to insure our property throught them and they said thats fine but we had to pay £25 cancellation fee! bearing in mind we had only just agreed the mortgage!
Are they allowed to charge us a fee for not wanting to insure our property through them?
Thanks in advance

Lots of companies do this.
Northern Rock did it to us too.
Whay we did was phone other insurance companies as you would and tell them about the fee our company refunded it for us:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
It will all be written in the mortgage Keyfacts document that you didn't have explained to you.
