Waxing for men- questions?

I have thought about having my upper body waxed for charity.
There is quite a lot to have done they don't call me gorilla for nothing.
My questions are how long does it take to grow back, i am going on holiday in july & don't want to be walking about looking as if i have a 5 o'clock shadow all over my body.
I imagine it would be slightly painful(lol), but if someone has had it done or knows someone who has had it done. Any info would be gladly excepted.

Why would you want to do that?
Can't you find another way to raising cash, Bath tub of cold baked beans springs to mind for some reason.
I've used Immac a couple of times (don't ask), for it to grow back properly about 3-4 weeks. But that is the last of you're worries.
Had my legs waxed once (again don't ask, I have a broad mind), yeah nice & smooth but oh so painful & why women do their bikini line with this method is beyond me.
All the best with the waxing though it's for a good cause. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

I know youre having it done for charity, but make sure whoever is doing it knows what they're doing! It can be quite painful but a professional will do it quickly & hygienically for you, with minimum ouch factor!
Tip have a couple of painkillers 20 mins before treatment!
Will grow 2 - 3 weeks later but not like stubble after shaving more sparse. Good Luck King Kon-oops sorry Oysterman :A0 -
You'd be better off just having it shaved off-won't take long to grow back then.
Personally i think you're mad! even though it is for charity!
I'm female, but even i won't let anyone near me with wax! god no!

upper body? I guess that means chest and back and not the full 'back, sack and crack' option! (ouch! ouch and ouch!) Why not just get one of those bodygroom mens shavers and get someone to shave it off - grows back fairly quickly but at least it's pain-free!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

Waxing is best way for anyone. Okay it'll hurt at first but end results you'll be pleased with. Won't grow back all stubbly either. Go for it............go on...........it's for charity after all. Just grit your teeth, it's nowhere near as bad as it is for us women giving birth!

I am trained in warm waxing and would like to stress the importance of getting a trained professional to do this for you, for example to ensure that:
* the correct consultation is carried out
* the area is cleansed correctly prior to waxing
* the wax is at the correct temperature
* the strips are pulled correctly
and many other factors to avoid potential hazards. I would also make sure that the therapist will provide you with an after wax lotion for you to apply at home (or for someone to apply for you if you're having your back waxed).
Incidentally, I wax my fella's back and when he had his first wax (at the end of last year), he nearly fell asleep on my treatment couch! Now, I'm not saying waxing's painless (it certainly isn't), but everyone is different when it comes to tolerance of the discomfort.
As correctly mentioned earlier, regrowth (the speed of which will greatly differ from person to person) will come through in a gradual and soft way, so it's unlikely you'll present with the stubble you're concerned about!
Finally, best of luck!

How much does it usually cost? £30 or so for a back, I guess?
Do you agree with the suggestion someone had about taking painkillers, or drinking alcohol (not both!) before treatment?!0 -
if you're having your back done then try to have someone on hand for the few days the regrowth starts so you get some exfoliation which will help the regrowth and stop ingrowing hairs... or buy a back brush and use an unscented body lotion to help too. It'll hurt but shoudln't leave you screaming (btw it hurts less the more you do it as your body gets used to it and you end up waxing shorted hairs which is less painful). Regrowth after waxing is less unsightly than after shaving as you don't have stubby hairs.0

Pain factor really depends on your what you can stand, I've had most of my body waxed (my SIL used me as her model when training) & apart from a quick smart when its ripped off I found it fine, except my arm pits, now that HURTS!!!!! worse than even a bikini line.
Maybe a professional would volunteer to wax you for a little bit of advertising, e.g saying before its done "Joanne Bloggs from Bloggs salon has kindly volunteered to give this waxing", if not a proffesional then maybe a student at your local college. Better than having an amateur making a mistake, also if its not done properly the hairs can break, causing regrowth sooooo much faster.
I agree with Justie, have someone around to exfoliate you, or get a back brush, ingrowing hairs are unsightly & can be very painful.
I think you'll raise more money from getting a wax than a shave, shaving is easy, waxing involves a bit of pain. You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
To Avoid excessive Pain you use numbing cream for pain free waxing procedures, there is one in the market now, that last 3 to 4hours of numbing effects. just google it Numbing Cream or Dr. Numb.0
