    Same here.

With you there, I don't actually know anyone with Down's Syndrome but I just find that part of the post insulting.

About the charity shops, before, you could get trousers and jeans etc for about £1.50 - £2 and shoes and tops for similiar prices. Today I saw New Look shoes priced at £12 which looked like they had been worn, which were probably only about £15 new!

Saying that, snapped up some River Island jeans for my sister for £7 and they are about £35 - £40 so she'll be chuffed :)

I opened this thread as I often buy stuff from charity shops and I too think that some of the stuff is overpriced.
Primark vest tops (obviously been worn) priced at £2 when they were only £2.50 new.
I think Oxfam are quite pricey.
    Then I found THIS post

and thought 'What's all this about?' so I read emmzy's full post and even though I don't know anyone with Down's Syndrome, I thought it was VERY offensive (not just 'kind of' - sorry, kunekune).

I may be wrong on this, but I also find it hard to believe emmzy's allegation that the shop she worked in was rife with theft by staff - especially to the extent of another volunteer breaking into a locker, stealing keys and then breaking into another volunteer's (emmzy's) house to steal jewellery, TV & computer.

In my local charity shop on Saturday, ladies short-sleeved tops were priced at £1 each. I picked up 4 for my daughter to be told that there was an offer on - BOGOF! Four tops for £2 plus a cookery book (Healthy Vegetarian Cookery) which had never been opened for £1 - can't say fairer than that!

One of our local charity shops is doing BOGOF on paperbacks at the moment. :D I found 2 HUGE thick ones for £1.

Our local Save The Children shop were advertising 'a bag of books for 95p' last week.
I'm not sure how big the bags were though.
  • I popped into our local Mind shop today. They were having a half price sale, and I got a book for 30 p and a man's shirt for DS for a play at school for £1 (nice quality one, too).

May be some of the charity shops have seen the light and customers are falling away? Hence the sales.....
