Always compare Debenhams online vs instore prices

I just had an interesting experience when I a new Braun shaver in Debenhams. I found the one I wanted on their website, reduced from £95 to £47.50, and then went down to the Southampton store to buy it. When I got to the store, I found it was on the shelf at the full price of £95, with no indication that any of their shavers were reduced.

I went to the cash desk, smiled sweetly, and explained what the website price was. The assistant looked at her computer terminal and replied "oh yes sir, you're quite right, it's £47.50".

What we will never know, is if I had not checked the website price, would I have been charged the full £95??

There prices do seem inconsistant. I tried on a dress in store in the sale reduced to half price but it had a hole in it and they didn't have another one. Had a look online and it was reduced but not as much as in store
