I have had a Remoska for years without any problems but yesterday when I switched it on it made a rather loud buzzing noise. I switched it straight off but when I tried it again later it did the same thing. I rang Lakeland for advice but they don't know what it is and they offered me a new one but unfortunately they've stopped making the Grand size until next year and the smaller size is too small for us. I am in a state of mourning. Has anyone had this happen with theirs?

Ours started to 'trip' the fuses. We exchanged it for a new one.
We later found out that there is a known problem with steam getting into the lid (where the electric element is) and causing electrical short circuits.
Maybe this is what's happened to yours?0 -
The switch went on ours two weeks ago and they replaced it in store even though we got ours off their web site.
We have the Grande. Ring a couple of nearest stores and see if they have stock first.

I rang Lakeland when our Grand started tripping. They said its worth trying to clean the steam vents first,so I gave them a good clean, and its been fine ever since-that was at least a year ago.It might not be the same problem of course, but worth a check to see if the steam can get out properly.HTH:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Thanks for all the responses. I have rung around the nearest stores but none have the Grande model. I will have a go at clearing the vents later and see if that works. I spoke to the company that deals with any problems with the Remoska (which Lakeland advised me to do) and they said it sounds like the element is on the way out. They said I can post it to them and they will replace it for £45 plus I will have to pay for the postage, which I imagine will be at least £5 bearing in mind that it is really heavy. Would it be cheaper to get the element myself and get someone else to do it? (I have a friend who is an electrician and he would do it for free). I haven't a clue how much an element would cost but surely not £50?0

NO, DON'T DO ANY REPAIRING YOURSELF. Lakeland will exchange it without quibble, if you/they can get hold of a Grande.
I can imagine your pain of being without one though. I have the Standard and use it daily, if not twice daily. There is a known problem about them tripping the fuse box but they have fantastic customer service. Call them back and ask if they know of any stores who have the Grande in stock.:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. I had a remoska which tripped the electric, it was changed, no problem. I was in the store recently and they told me that they will replace mine again if it fizzles out or I can pay extra and get the bigger one.
I know its inconvenient but could you not hold on till they have the bigger ones back in.0 -
It sounds to me as if the element is wet.Mine made the same noise once and my husband took it apart and inside the element is like the bracelet sweets you used to be able to buy years ago. i would put it on a warm surface and see if it dries out.
If it is the element on its way out the element is not heavy so postage wont be much but as lakeland does a lifetime guarantee see if you can get your money back and look on ebay for one as usually there are nearly new or brand new not used ones on there.
Just looked on Lakeland and there are no Grand Remoskas for sale on there0 -
I feel for you, I love my remoska. I would try putting the lid in the airing cupboard for a couple of days. Just a thought but do you turn the lid upside down when checking on food? I used to do this as per the instructions, but found I had problems with it tripping the electrics. After Lakeland replaced my first one, it happened again with the replacement, but they were out if stock, so I put mine in airing cupboard and afterwards tried just placing the lid right way up on whichever Remoska base I wasn't using (I have a shallow and a deep pan) while I stirred or turned over whatever was cooking...never had a problem since.People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Good news! I rang my nearest store again on the off chance and after telling me yesterday they didn't have a Grand Remoska they have said today that they have one left in stock! They said that they will hold it for me until tomorrow and they will exchange it for my current Remoska. Hurrah! I know I am very sad but my Remoska is my best friend0
