Pack of Mince

Options
Ive just taken a 800g pack of Mince out the Freezer to defrost overnight and then I will be putting it into the Slow Cooker the morrow.

After reading a few posts today, thought of a few other Meals I can make, just to add variety.

Normally out of a Pack of Mince Id make about 4 or 5 individual Lasagne's, some Spicy, some regular.

Think I will make some Chilli Con Carne mix to refreeze, hope thats ok. to have with Rice and maybe inside some tortilla wraps at some point.

Can someone tell me is that pretty similar to - Enchiladas or canelloni?

Anyway, what I was wondering, how do you all manage to Divide up how much Mince mixture to use for each Meal (1person in my case)

Like it I want to make Lasagne's, chilli con carne mix to freeze in batches, mayb Spag Bol mix, or even enough Mix to make a cottage/shepherds pie( dont know the difference lol 5)

Is the easy way to make just 5 of the same per pack of mince, to avoid confusion, and do the same for each meal type

I often use mince (1lb) from butchers to make spag bol/lasagne and chilli.. I brown the mince then split into two pans, in one I put about 2/3 of the mince and make into a bolognese sauce and the other pan I make into chilli. Always freezes fine and is a good way to get a bit of variety. Have not done it in the slow cooker tho...

if you want to make a mexican meal with mince then it may work better with taco shells rather than wraps, maybe make a larger batch so you can try with both to see which you prefer

Hi What I tend to do is rather than do two seperate pans of mince I do one large pan with onions, tinned toms, Garlic and simmer for an hour or so when cooled I then freeze into individual portions then when I come to eat I can customise to what I fancy ie Bolognese I add some mixed herbs or for chilli I add some chilli flakes and some kidney beans, Its easier for me because you can guarantee that if I fancy bolognese there would only be bags of chilli left lol, Hope this helps

    hi
here's a recipe you might like to try:-

    Moroccan Meatballs

    In a bowl mix together:-

    400gms minced beef
    1 tbls tomato puree
    1 tsp cumin
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tsp turmeric
    2 tsp oil
    salt & black pepper

then shape into balls a little bigger than a marble (fiddley I know but I do it while watching tele) put in fridge to firm up

Then in a large pan heat 2 tbls of oil and a little salt then soften a chopped onion and 1 clove of garlic.
    Add:-

    1 tsp cumin
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tsp turmeric
    1 tsp ginger
    chilli powder to taste
    Black pepper

cook gently for a minute or two then add 2 tins of chopped tomatoes & 1 tbls of tomato puree and 1 tbl chopped parsley. Cook gently until mixture thickens and then add the meatballs and cook for 30mins.
I sometimes add a chopped pepper to the sauce.

You can also add some eggs to gently poach in the sauce when almost cooked.

Serve with any carb you like (traditionally bread)

    Freezes well without the eggs.

If you've already frozen the mince once you shouldn't refreeze it.
