Hi Everyone - I've been looking on line at the various discount diamond ring sites. Several stand out, but one in particualr specialises in clarity enhanced diamonds called Biggerdiamonds4less.
You can buy a 1ct solitaire engagement ring for £1999 or even a 5ct for about £15k which is way our of my budget, but seems unbelievable value. Does anybody know anything about these guys? Are they any good? They claim all their diamonds are independently certifed and they offer 14 day money back guarantee. Testimonials on there own site look good, but I can't find any independent reviews accept their eBay account rwblondon that has 100% feedback... Any info about the company would be much appreciated. I think they're part of Burscarf Ltd?

I'd be very careful. Does it mention the cut, clarity, colour and carat size?
A one carat diamond could be full of inclusions, a poor cut and a nasty colour.
Are the diamonds from responsible sources? I'd be devastated if I ended up with a blood diamond in my engagement ring.
I know blue Nile are very good and reputable.0 -
I looked for ages online, but in the end decided I didn't need the ring to propose and it was better to choose it together. I'm really pleased that I did, as she chose a style different to what I'd been looking at and it was a really special day together, going to the local jewellers to find the one that was just right. It does have the downside that she knows how much it costs and it might cost you more (because she wants one at the top of your budget), although my wife actually chose one for less than I was planning to spend. I might have got better value online, but we don't plan to ever sell it anyway and it's the sentimental value that matters not the size of the diamond. I'm pretty sure the resale value of these rings plummets the moment you get it anyway whether it's from a shop or online.
I think the best places to go if value for money is important is Hatton Gardens in London or the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. If these places are a bit of a trek then perhaps you could plan a romantic weekend away and spring it on her.
We bought ours from a fantastic local jewellers in Manchester.0 -

The address on the website doesn't show a number but given that Greville Street runs off Hatton Garden there are quite a lot of jewellers there. Unfortunately most of them appear to be in number 14 which is the home of a company offering virtual offices.

Perhaps BD4less really do have premises in Greville St. but a Google search didn't throw up anything. They also only allow callers by appointment.
The telephone number has a Romford, Essex prefix.
The website domain has been registered to a non-trading individual which means that he doesn't have to give an address.

Obviously they're trading so that's a load of lies.
Burscarf Ltd is named after its two directors. For a company which is trading in diamonds they don't seem to have much in the way of cash or assets.

They might be ok but without a concrete contact address I'd be dubious about using them.0 -
That says it all to me.
I bought my engagement ring with my lovely hubby to be from a small independent in Manchester too. We got excellent value for money,in fact it's been valued over £2k more than we paid.
Although I agree with the above poster,it's not about the money I never want to part with it0
