£799 for a 47" 1080p lcd

cant vouch for the company or the screen but got emailed this and figured it seemed a good price for a big screen with a full 1080p picture according to the specs.

means !!!!!! all, lcs dont burn in (well they sort of but you can flip them back) and its got to be at most a couple of months old, i think 1080p's only started apearing about 3 moths back.

odds are they sat in a showroom for a few weeks and now are getting punted at a discount
  • You often find LCD's at reduced rates if they have been used as ex-display, especially at comet and john lewis. Theres also the chance that these lcds will have scratches, marks and fingerprints on. The remote might also be a bit worn out and fadded even!

The life of the LCD may also be reduced due to the amount of hours it has been on and it could even contain dead pixals.

Not really worth it if you ask me. Sorry

These look like the Aldi model.

Can't think why the OP mentions 'rear projector'. I would like to see a rear projector TV hung from the supplied wall bracket!!

Ok, lets clear the confusion here shall we. Is this a Wall mountable LCD TV or a Rear screen projection TV?

A 47 inch screen is the same size whatever the type of TV. The physical size and weight of the the TV can vary tremendously; So the 'rear projection' comment simply confused.

If it were a rear projection TV(which it is not) it would be huge - about 3 feet deep. This is a normal LCD a few inches deep and can be hung on the wall.

If it is the Aldi set, you should read some of the reports on AV forums, there have been a lot of software problems and lots of sets have been returned - which is probably where these have come from.

Tevion is a brand name owned by Aldi, so these look like returns from Aldi, probably been repaired or firmware upgraded as there were loads of faulty ones.
