bobble wool

i have bought some of the new bobble wool, not sure what it is called but it looks like round cotton wool balls with about 2in of normal wool between each ball. when knitted it looks bit like a cushion. first off can someone tell me what it is called and secondly how do you knit with it as when i have tried i havent been able to have a kind of cushion effect on back and front...can look up how though iff know what its called, can anyone help?

It does sound like a type of pom pom yarn. You use the bits between the bobbles to knit up, with the bobbles forming the loop between the stitches. If you want the bobble front and back do a stocking stitch (all rows knit). I have seen different types of this yarn and they can knit up quite differently. I think it is to do with the length of yarn between the bobbles. Casting on and off can be difficult, but you just have to persevere and work it out. yes thanks thats it pom pom wool managed to get a 70g ball in 99p store was vey pleased with myself until i tried to knit with it, best practise and more practis have only just given up on the ther weird wool that you stretch and oick up the stitches as you go along and are supposed end up with a twirley scarf0
