Credit file issues - workaround?

I have an issue with my credit file at the moment, whereby there is an address linked to me that I have nothing to do with - Santander miss traced someone with the same name and date of birth as me. I have had a mortgage application rejected because of this.
I have letters and emails from Santander confirming they have miss traced the account, and I can prove I have never lived at the address nor had any links with it. However it is taking an age to get the address taken off because Santander and Experian are being difficult about it.
My question is, am I likely to get a mortgage elsewhere if I warn companies in advance of this issue (didn't know about it until the rejection!) and provide them with the necessary confirmations? My credit score actually shows as excellent, so I think the rejection in the first place was very harsh!

The question your asking is difficult to answer.
One thing that would help massively is the loan to value (ie how much you want to borrow compared to the purchase price). This will affect the lenders available and their likeliness to offer some sort of leniency.
Generally speaking its best to speak to a broker where there is any complications.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
