Not a nice weather day at all - shame I chose it for a washing day. That's typical me.
DS has loved the lazing around day, so I left him to it!
He was also very good taking on board my money saving when he was much younger (6 or 7) and is a good saver himself (pocket money from grandparents etc).
Hope you have a nice evening at the pub too.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Good luck with starting the new job tomorrow. Hope it goes well and you enjoy it.
I thought of you today as I was looking in a charity shop - £7 for a plain top and £12 for 6 plain white plates

Thank you so much for this Ali - I had a quick look before I went to bed last night and it meant a lot to see you wishing me luck! :A:A
Today went well, only Inset so kids in tomorrow. My teacher is lovely, and we've agreed to take it a day at a time this week so I can get to know the children and routines. Got home to a big bunch of flowers and my favourite chocolate bar from the kids and my youngest has spent most of the evening so far kissing and cuddling me.....so I'm making the most of that! :rotfl:
Not much MSE-ing to report here today....an advantage to being back at work I guess! Shopped over the weekend, and the stores are nicely stocked so this week's shop should take us well into next week as well. Had three really good ebay sales over the weekend so I'll get DH to post those off tomorrow, but it means there's over £100 in my paypal account now towards Christmas presents. Speaking of which, DS2 and DD have made inroads into their Christmas lists today........number 28 on DDs is a 'new baby sister'!!!!:eek::eek: Um, that'll be a NO then!! :rotfl::rotfl:(funnily enough, this comes way after the request for a puppy, in at number 9!!!)0 -
sounds like a good evening,,
I hope that there is somethings on the list that you can actually get her!!...

My thoughts exactly :rotfl::rotfl:
DS started off wanting a sister or brother for a long long time and then changed to wanting a dog. I did give in, but on the research of dogs are great for Aspergers kids (he is an Aspie) and also that I was home alot of the time. How we came to get a second..that's entirely of my doing :rotfl:
Dogs are like permanent toddlers - messy, angels or nightmares in equal measure, have to houseproof all over again, expensive, do keep you on your toes, but you love them to bits whatever
I'm so pleased you saw my message last night as it was quite late and good to hear you had a great first day. Long may it continue and what a wonderful welcome home from the family.
Well done on your eBay sales and funds, that's great going. I got the last Xmas present yesterday and totalled up the cost - £555.75  Full price would have been £810 and that's without a big present for DS. He had a birthday/Xmas combined replacement laptop when his died in the summer (but I did get PC World £100 cashback).
A NSD for me too with working - it's definitely good for the pocket. Off to update my diary too - had a little incident with 2 DFW activities tonight - namely candles burning and the cellophane for my 'pub parcels'

I've just had a read through and thankfully there's plenty....
6. a new game to play
8. a new cushion for my bed
15. one new pen
20. a new rubber
22. a notebook
25. ice cream (:rotfl:bless her)
35. a new song on the mp3 player
but being my girl she goes on to add.....
47. some money
48. some more money!!!!
but she's finished off with
55. a happy mum
56. to have a Good Christmas
Bless. Kids are so funny sometimes aren't they? I'm thinking she's playing a tactical game by covering pretty much everything she can think off on the chance she's likely to get SOMETHING......I hope so at least, as number one on the list is an I-pod and she's not getting one of those!!!!!0 -
Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted, doesn't time fly? I am really enjoying my job (just as well....:rotfl:) it's fab being back in the classroom, and leaving at half three leaving the teacher to do the planning, marking and everything else........!!
My first pay day this coming Friday, good job too as we are now in our overdraft and the money is running low. I have asked for the forms to make a claim for tax credits so I am hoping they're here soon as we should be entitled to something and with only my wage, DHs JSA and the CB anything extra will be a lifesaver!
Heating is on briefly in the morning so the kids aren't getting up into a really cold house, but we haven't put it on during the day/eve yet which is good going for us, so I'm hoping this makes a difference to the bills. Kids are happy going to bed with a hot water bottle (as am I!) and DS1 has been given a onsie so he's quite snug now!
Rang the council and have arranged to pay our council tax over 12 months instead of ten from next month, so that will be four months at £74, then from April it will be £25 less a month than it's been over ten months (assuming it doesn't go up!)
M&S sent me a £50 voucher as our eldest hurt his leg on his bunkbed, and I'm off shopping for stocking bits/onsies/anything else from their xmas lists on Thursday eve, and as we had 20% off vouchers come through for M&S on Saturday, my money will go even further!! :T
Ebay been going well, I have FINALLY bought a lovely coffee table for the living room - solid chunky pine, painted, shabby chic - for the bargain price of £35, so now have somewhere for candles in the evening, and the kids are using it for cards/games :T
I have about £30 form the £350 budget left for housekeeping, but the freezer is still well stocked, and the cupboards are looking good too so should be able to make this last for next week when I shop at the weekend, hopefully it will be fruit, veg and milk and not much else needed!!!
Right, off to bed.....with a hotty!!! (bottle, not man.......though I'm sure DH would oblige if required, but it's just too cold and I'm in my pjs already!!!:rotfl:)0 -
Well done Molly, you've done so much and with being back at work too, that is impressive progress :T
Fingers crossed you can get the WTC forms and claim sorted soon, it will all help for sure.
What a bonus with the 20% M&S on top of the £50, you should get lots of lovely things for them with that.
Heating and candles...what more can I say
And a coffee table to put them on at last - brilliant :j
Great going on the budget too, looking good.

Well, had my first paycheck yesterday! they've taken tax, which I shouldn't pay, and a pension contribution which I wasn't told about!!! So I'm about £160 down on what I was expecting! Plus, I'm technically on contract till July, so the figure I'd been given initially isn't right anyway as it was based on an annual salary. So, I need to speak to our business manager on Monday and get her to explain quite how they've arrived at my monthly wage as however I spin it, I can't see that it's right anyway!!! Never mind, it will al come out in the wash, but it has made me think I should have hung on in the supply teaching world a bit longer......never mind. By Easter, if DH still has no job I will start hunting for a teaching job for next September, the downside being I'm considerably more expensive to employ than the NQTs I'll be up against.
Did my last food shop of the month today, and next week's meal plan is done. Doubled up my nectar points yesterday to buy a new iron.....£22.99 cost me £2.99! Happy with that, mine has been dying a slow death so this offer came at the right time.
Not much else to report. M&S wasn't great Thursday night....why is it that when you have money to spend you can't find what you want but when you're skint there's tons????
Feeling rather disheartened tonight. I need to shuffle round the money tomorrow to be sure there's enough to float the main account for the month. The tax credits forms came today so I need to fill those in, because I really think they will be a lifeline for us after our money runs out next month. I don't even know how it works.....if there's not enough money in the bank, how do we pay the bills?? Can't exactly use a credit card to pay the direct debits can we??? Head in the sand moment, do excuse me..........:o0 -
Might be worth contacting the Tax Office direct too to make sure they give you and your employer the right code. Hope you can sort this in time for next month's pay and get the money back you shouldn't have paid this month.
A bargain with the new iron. My kettle is leaking and I am trying to work out if I can get another voucher - would only be £10 but it would help, though would have to do it today as last day of exchange.
Could you use your voucher and discount code at M&S Online?
Hope you got the WTC forms completed and sent.
