Help needed with thestore discount code PP1395 (free food steamer)

I got this code in a mailshot

Pleaced an order over the internet for a sale item costing only 49 pence - order went through OK saying gift "allocated"

Received my 49 pence item (+2.99 delivery charge) but no steamer

Phone helpline and was told I should have ordered something from the main catalogue

My questions are as follows :

1) unfortunately I threw out the mailshot so does anybody still have it and if so does it state you have to place an order from the main catalogue (because I didnt see any small print stating that) ?

2) If thats the case then surely the order shouldn't go through on the internet ?

Reason I say this is because I have used other codes like £10 off + free mystery gift and the £10 off is NOT applied unless you order an item from the correct catalogue

I suspect the mailshot doesnt say anything about ordering from a specific catalogue - if anybdoy could confirm this it would be greatly appreciated

I don't know what to suggest but maybe cancel your account with them because lots of people on here have had HUGE problems with the Store: poor security, false (alleged) advertising, items out of stock, offers not honoured and so on. Buyer beware!

Appreciate the information but playing devils advocate I have to say that I have a lot of good deals out of both empirestores and thestore (both part of "redcats") and this is the first time I have encountered them refusing to honour an order

I actually placed 5 separate orders with thestore and this is the only one of the five they didnt honour - the other 4 were all get £10 off or get £10 off + a free gift

Everything I ordered was just under £10 so all I had to pay was £2.95 for p&p for each order (total £11.80) - for that I got 2 decent sweatshirts, shower curtain, a fleece underblanket and two travel mirrors with an inbuilt light (the 2 free gifts) - all 4 items are stuff I wanted/needed

Also used quite a few other codes without problems and got these semi free : 2 X 5 inch B&W tv/radio, 2 jackets, kettle, coffee maker - those are the ones I remember anyhow

If you are ordering online then I have learnt the following trick - if you enter an invalid promotion code the system give you a list of valid ones to use which is quite useful

If anybody has the "free steamer" mailshot then LMK because I will makle a complaint if they have told my a pack of lies regarding the T&C of the offer

p.s. the items out of stock issue can work in your favour - for example I bought some cheap item (undies) mainly to get one of the free gift items from empire - turned out the undies were out of stock so I got the free gift free of any charge as empire do free delivery unlike thestore

People on this site had reported being able to see other peoples' card details, account details, addresses etc on the store website!
