I was wondering where the best place to buy a sega mega drive console is, apart from ebay and amazon.
The problem I have with ebay is the fact I use my brothers account and I want to get him one for Xmas as he loved it when he was younger, But I'm worried that he will read the emails!! Any suggestions would be welcome!!
Many thanks

Can you not just set up your own account. It might not work with a new style tv so you might want to check that out before you buy. You can buy the Mega drive classics game for PS3 and Xbox360.Come on you Irons0

I would set up my own account, but I have had trouble with my paypal account. That's a good idea about the mega drive game for the ps3 though!

There's a handheld version of what Timalay posted which I'm sure supports SD cards for additional games should you be able to acquire them. The other thing might be if you really want the actual console is to check local boot sales - they're often a goldmine of retro goodies.
(PS I'd try to avoid acquiring them through "google" methods as those will be of extremely questionable reality!)Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

I don't know really, most tvs still have aerial connectors for built in freeview or tuning the only issue is the 50hz
In fact you can buy scart cables for about a tenner online too.
Or a Composite cable.
Anyway its difficult to say, all those things at places at Argos use emulation so you get glitches not present on the original, also the PAL games ran at 50hz so they are slower and have borders
If you want to get the best of the best you can get a real console, and get someone to mod it for 60hz and spend money on a flashcard but that is illegal unless its free games0 -

This place usually have a few in... http://www.retrogames.co.uk/default/off/category/Sega/00Hardware
I've not used them myself but I've been pointed their way on a number of occasions when looking for old hardware.
As others have said the Mega Drive is known to have problems with some TVs, mostly not displaying a picture, but this can usually be worked around by using the A/V cable if you can track one down. If you do make sure you get the correct one for the Mega Drive version as IIRC they're wired differently.0 -

You could also try asking on your local Freegle and Freecycle sites as some have been offered on my local ones. If you are on Facebook, quite often they have local selling groups.
How about Gumtree?0 -
