    Hmmm are you all drinking wine like moi?

    Thinking about the whistle, I also need to consider if I was otherwise engaged (i.e. toilet trip :o ) and the kettle was boiling and whistling - it would be very inconvenient :eek: - unless of course I didn't go to the toilet just after putting kettle on.

    Ok - I will stick with the electric one :rotfl:

    Even more :confused::confused::confused:

    oooooh dear BA, is it your turn with the wine tonight then!!! Used to have a gas kettle, kept forgetting about it and letting it boil dry. Not the best idea!! electric turn themselves off if you do inadvertantly get caught, ahem, behind a bush as it were!!!!

    We have a whistle kettle that goes on the gas hob. It looks very stylish and I love the whistle but you cannot have a cup of tea in a hurry as it takes forever to boil, not good for a morning cuppa if you're running late. You can't see how much water you put in either which can be a waste.

    Hi blackangel. We have a whistling kettle that goes on the gas hob. I bought it after three electric kettles had all broken down only a year after I'd bought them. The gas one has lasted four or five years and I'm really pleased with it. You probably waste less fuel as you quickly learn not to put it on and wonder off to the loo or wherever.

    As for taking longer to boil -that's nonsense so long as you don't overfill it. My OH has trained me to put the precise amount in - hold the kettle under the tap while you count to three and that's enough for one mug.

    Hi Sea,

    Sorry but I do find our kettle takes longer to boil!!

    Like the idea of counting to 3 to get the right amount of water for a cup though. How fast do you run the water though.

    Ah, now I couldnt tell you exactly - I turn it on full but everyone's tap is probably different. Why not experiment holding your mug under the tap to find out how long it takes to fill it.

    My OH drilled the count-to-three thing into me as I was always overfilling it and now I'm a convert to only boiling exactly what I need.

  • See now I'm confused, convinced myself electric kettle might be better/more economical, now thinking whistle kettle might be. DH suggested we put it on for a brew before getting in shower - thus meaning we have to shower very very quickly - thus saving water........:rolleyes:

    Decisions, decisions....................:confused:
