What's been blocking the images?

Only noticed this morning but many images [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] were not being displayed. (changed to past tense as normality seems to have returned as I'm writing this) First noticed about 7.30 this morning. Cleared up about 11.30.

Threads such as this - first image on post #5. The image on the additional link would not display either. Hopefully showing an attached letter there now but when I viewed it earlier all I could see was

o544m0.png

It wasn't just limited to postimage as some other images hosted on other sites were also blocked/not visible. Other images from these sites were still visible so the sites were not down.

I also tried viewing the pages through a proxy and all images could be viewed.

Any suggestions what could have caused the images to not display? Would be useful to find out then if it happens again I can either fix it, or just come back later when it's hopefully cured (thinking it might be an ISP issue)

On Virgin Media by any chance? I know there was an issue with them and images hosted on imgur earlier today because some content on imgur was listed on the IWF blacklist, and due to a failure of Virgin Media's filtering system the whole site was inaccessible. Possibly other image hosting sites were affected as well.

What web browser are you using?

It's working fine on BT/safari for me
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Usually Chrome though I also tried Firefox & Opera.

Thanks anyway. At least if it happens again I know to walk away & go do something in the real world instead of trying to work out what piece of malicious software I've unwittingly installed that's blocking random images!
