This is as bad as the the excessive bank charges!

I booked a holiday with Thomson in Jan 07 to depart May 07
In Feb I needed to change the dates to September, a more expensive time to travel and paid an additional £218 to Thomson. They completed a new booking (took about 10 mins on computer) made a phone call and all was sorted in minuites. A charge of £70 was also added for making the changes even though I was paying them more money for the holiday. Recently I decided that I would like to have two weeks away rather than one - an additional cost to me of £600. Guess what- somemore info. keyed in the PC, another quick call and another charge of £70.
How can they justify £70 for 10/15 mins work by a travel agent?
Surely this is along similar lines to the amounts the banks have been charging us?
Anyone advise?

This has been discussed several times before. You entered into a contract, the charges were specified at the time of the contract being formed. It was your choice to change the holiday.
No, you are not able to claim these charges back.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Although i see your frustration on this, you cancelled a holiday, you changed the holiday times, dates, length of holiday etc.
The tour operator kept there part of the contract and changed nothing.
However i do beleive that some of the charges are excessive and are in urgent need of review. See post on tour operators and agents Re: family rooms0 -
Hey there and I notice that's your first post so welcome to MSE
These are several threads thrown up by the search function, it doesn't look like anything can be done but that doesn't mean you can't try to be nice and try and talk them out of the charge. Not sure how successful that would be though!
Please help?? Can Travel agents charge £105 for 20 mins work?
