Experian, Aktiv Kapital and default dates!

Hi

Have just checked my credit file with Experian and this info is showing up for a loan I had. It doesn't have a settled date and I have not acknowledge the debt at all since defaulting in 2007 so wondered when this will likely drop off my credit file? I have a noddle account too but this particular debt isn't showing on there....

Started: 28/01/05

Default 15/05/07

Account Updated to 11/04/10

Current Balance:Satisfied

Default Balance: 5315

DEBT ASSIGNED 04/10

(FYI it was a loan from Welcome finance)

I also have been getting quite a lot of letters from Activ Capita about an alleged debt from HFC Bank saying I owe them £1500 but none of this is showing on my credit reports and I really can't remember having any credit with them (But my memory is hazy and I did at one point have quite a lot of debts, so it is possible!)

They have now started calling me at work but I have not got any further into a conversation with them apart from them telling me they can't discuss anything unless I confirm my address and me telling them that unless they tell me what it is about, there's no chance I will confirm anything! Not sure how they have got my work number though as have only been there a year (Have not accumulated any credit in the past 5 years) the only thing I can think of is that they've found me through LinkedIn!

The letters are now coming weekly to my home address and offering me a discount if I pay it off but I don't understand how people can chase me for a debt that isn't on my credit files?

Any help and advice on the above would be gratefully appreciated :)

If that date is correct then that account should have been removed from your report back in May.

You need to complain to Experian demanding that they remove it.

Tell then your employer is recording the calls so you can send them to the OFT and use them as part of a harassment prosecution or court case.

As for work number. By default, your basic linked in profile is public. Recruitment consultants use this all the time to call you at work. You need to disable this as it shows where you currently work :)
