I am currently dealing with the CAB to see if I qualify for a debt relief order , they have told me if any of my creditors call do not pay any money toward them as it would look favourable if I were to pay one and not the other.
nram called today and said that if I did not pay I would default and they would pass my debt to a debt collection agency , I said that the CAB had done a financial statement and that they would be receiving it soon , they gave me 14 days and then said I had to ring them and make a payment.
can they make me make a payment ?
can they pass my debt on to a debt collection agency? while I am in the process of trying to sort out my debt.

If you are entering into a DRO it does not matter who holds the debt and a default won't make any difference either as a DRO will destroy your credit file anyway.
You do not have to pay them just because they are asking or telling you to either. Only a judge can force you to make a payment.0 -
thanks Michael, does this mean I should just ignore them or should I at least tell them they have to wait for the financial statement from the CAB.
what do I say if they threaten me with a debt collector?0 -
Hey Rich
I would write to them saying you are taking advice. Then ignore any calls until you have a plan from CAB or whoever. Remember most debt collectors have no right of entry, read up o your rights about bailiffs if worried.
Google stepchange bailiffs for a linkDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
