Good evening all
hoping someone can advise.....
I work for a supermarket and we had someone visit the store saying they worked for the HMRC and we could all get money back on our cleaning expenses so long as our uniform had the company logo.... turns out she did not work for HMRC at all but a private company who would charge £18(something she failed to tell colleagues as she was signing them up:eek: !!) to fill in the forms on our behalf... needless to say she was shown the door ..
Is there a way that colleagues can do this themselves thus cutting out the middle man and not paying a fee ?
Ive tried looking on the HMRC website and the nearest I can find is a p87, but this doesn't ask for the same information as this shocking womens form did.
Any help would be gratefully received

It's really as simple as phoning up HMRC and asking to claim for uniform washing for the last 4 years. Some advisers will ask you to write in and some will deal with it there and then. No charge involved.0 -
Tell everyone to claim for themselves and not pay a fee to anyone.
These companies are a disgrace: they take advantage of people's lack of knowledge. I don't know why the employers don't tell the employees about the cleaning allowance.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

This woman was ruthless in her approach, we had to escort her from the building in the end.. and the fact she lied about working for HMRC is outrageousGoing it alone and feeling the pinch

This is very important for any of your colleagues who signed up with that woman.
They will have signed an authority for an agent to act on their behalf and for the agent to be paid any repayment due.
Unless your colleagues do something about that now HMRC will send their repayments to the agents who will then deduct their fee (and commission) plus VAT.
Each person will therefore need to contact HMRC personally to cancel the authorities they have signed.
That really needs to be done quickly because the agents will have already submitted the claims.0
