    Congratulations Mupeteer.

To all those who are beginning their debt free journeys...keep at it, ride the storms and it does get easier. Good luck to all.

I know how you feel about the long hard slog....5 and a half years for me! That said, I was originally quoted 9 years as my dfd...had a major panic and decided I would do all I could to reduce it.

I'm now enjoying being debt free, budgeting and starting to save money now...what a nice feeling!

Thanks everyone, and good luck to you all as you continue towards your DFDs. There were times I thought I would never make it as I lurched from one financial crisis to another but I got there. Keep going through the setbacks and you'll make it out the other side.

The best thing about it all is the realisation that I am a lot more savvy when it comes to money (and people who will bring me down and try to suck me dry!) now and I can't see how I could ever get myself into such a mess again.
Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world
