I know how you feel about the long hard slog....5 and a half years for me! That said, I was originally quoted 9 years as my dfd...had a major panic and decided I would do all I could to reduce it.
I'm now enjoying being debt free, budgeting and starting to save money now...what a nice feeling!Debt 30k in 2008.:eek::o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Thanks everyone, and good luck to you all as you continue towards your DFDs. There were times I thought I would never make it as I lurched from one financial crisis to another but I got there. Keep going through the setbacks and you'll make it out the other side.
The best thing about it all is the realisation that I am a lot more savvy when it comes to money (and people who will bring me down and try to suck me dry!) now and I can't see how I could ever get myself into such a mess again.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on
