Bridesmaids & Groomsmen Matching?

Hi,
If you are having any Bridesmaids/Flowergirls and Groomsmen/Pageboys do they match?
We were thinking of going Sage and ivory/creme for everything being outside/in barns and i found some satin type dresses and cravats with white scroll waistcoats.
I want our big photograph to look 'tidy'
Then it dawned on me that my bestfriend hates green
I know she would wear it if i made her though lol so I asked her thoughts and she likes the Champagne Gold version of the same dress.
My FH i can see not being keen on using 'champagne gold' as he was quite happy with the green.
My thought is... could the BM's & FG's wear the champagne gold dresses with white & green floeers and the GM & PB wear sage green cravats, hankies and have white green button holes or will it look daft?
Thank you for any advice!
P.s - Not getting married until June so i could let the BM's & GM's fight it out

I think that sounds absolutely gorgeous as a colour scheme, I don't see why the colours have to match. Especially if the buttonholes and bouquets coordinate. Gold and green go really well together so I think it would look lovely.0

Sounds like a good plan.
Our bridesmaids wore red with cream sashes. Bridesmaids carried cream roses and I carried red roses.
Groomsmen had cream cravats. With cream rose button holes.
Hubby had red cravat and double red rose button hole with diamond flower stud to match diamond studs in my rose bouquet so he "stood" out so to speak.
It all looked lovely. So the bridesmaid/groomsmen don't have to match exactly.0 -
Sage, pale gold and ivory sounds lovely...especially if you can get soft sagey green foliage into your & BM flowers, and pale gold into the mens b/holes? That would pull it all together
I was in ivory with red & ivory flowers, BM was in pewtery grey with ivory & red, DH had red & ivory buttonhole, best man & my 2 sons had ivory buttonholes and all 4 men wore the same waistcoat which was ivory with red & grey embroidery. So again, no matchy-matchy thing going on!0 -
They don't all have to be exactly the same, some of the wedding pics look nice with a bit of variation. Our flower girls were in cream with green waistbands, and the bridesmaids in green with cream waistbands, all the blokes were in grey suits with green cravats. The gold sounds lovely, but couldn't your bestie cope with green for one day, for your wedding?0

Thank you for all of the advice!
Having spent the weekend thinking about it and reading your comments i am much more relaxed about it now.
Hearing your mixed colour themes does sound lovely and seems to have worked really well.
I think if the herb/flower bouquest are in a sage colour with some ivory in them and they hair accessories have a bit of sage and ivory that will link up with the guys. The button holes are going to be herb based so if i can come up with some sort of 'gold' thing to put in them it will work.
As we are making the flowers and such we will have a lot more freedom!
Thank you again for your help and easing my mind!0 -

Just remember it is YOUR wedding, not your best matesand you will want to look at the photos and say "it was just as I imagined/wanted it to be"...not "I wish I'd put my foot down about the colour of the bridesmaids dresses"

I'm having sage green too and the colour of the dresses is a sort of silvery sagey green, and I don't particularly like green but its a really pretty colour! hoping for groomsmen to have sage green cravats to match with the bridesmaid.
A friend of a friend had sage green and pale pink which looked really nice together, so you could have some bridesmaids in sage and others in pink then groomsmen in a sage tie and pink buttonhole? i appreciate pink isn't everyones cup of tea tho!0 -

But also remember that your wedding day is just ine day, whereas friendships are longer0
