Anyone heard of this finance company

Hi my mum in law enquired into getting a loan, and she got a reply through the post saying she had been accepted and that she had to send off £49 as a processing fee and they will in turn send her the loan form agreement. She showed me the letter, but I have never heard of companies doing this, let alone the company involved, it is wentworth finance.
Is this a scam or is it common practice for loan companies to insist on an up front fee?
Thanks

Tell her not to send the money. It is a scam.
