SIPP - Convertible Load Aboard

Hello, I am seeking advice on the options for a SIPP. I currently have money tied up in a previous companies pension scheme. I have recently moved to Germany and the company I am working for has offered up some lucrative share options to investors over a certain value through a Convertible loan. I would like to invest my pension money into this company, and despite SIPP's being flexible and having spoken to one advisor, I am unable to find out if the following is possible:

To find a company to manage my SIPP with foreign investment opportunity through the option of a convertible loan.
Whether I can invest in companies where I have a tangible link.

Is there anything else that I need to take into consideration?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions as to what I should do.

There is some information on the sipp club website but I know nothing about that kind of stuff, you will need to speak to a specialist in that area.

I should say also that I can't vouch for anything on that site, just happened to google about sipps and loans and that website was prevelant.

If this was possible (i'm sure the company would need to offer quoted shares to the public for this to work) it would not be recommended.

Simply due to having all your eggs in one basket.

It wouldn't be all of my eggs, but around 50%, which is higher than I would like, but being as I work in the organisation, then I feel that there is significant cause to put more than I would ordinarily feel comfortable with. Thanks for the advice though.
  • It seems it is possible, but it seems like quite a head ache. Although there is risk, given that I am close to the heart beat of the organisation, then I am eager invest sooner rather than later. SIPP Club seems to be pointing me in the right direction. Thanks for identifying them lamb1102

it is certainly possible to buy shares in unlisted companies through a SIPP but not many providers are prepared to run the risk of a regulatory problem (the rules are complex), and the charges will probably run into four figures in most cases. This may still be worthwhile for a sizeable investment.

Best to find a specialist SIPP provider (eg https://www.curtisbanks.co.uk) and discuss it with them.
