Hi,
This year is my first year holding christmas dinner at my house and want to make it special. Got ten guests, all adults and wanted to make homemade crackers but want them to look good too.
Wondered if anyone had any suggestions of an alternative to crackers? Still would want a table present and any suggestions for how to make them and what to put in them.
Thanks

Hi, Last year I was Same as you hosting my first Xmas with all family attending for dinner and I wanted to make it special with homemade crackers, I looked on eBay for buying hats , snaps ext but the prices were more than I wanted to pay as I wanted to buy a mini personal gift to place in in each cracker. So in the end what I done was buy a bag of Asda smart price crackers and recycled them by carefully removing the snaps, hats and jokes ect.
I then bought a pack of A4 Xmas patterned card from the works for £1 and using cracker template printed offline I kinda cut long slim diamond shapes Approx 1&1/2 inch from each end for the part which I was to tie with ribbon, I then assembled adding alcohol miniatures and sweets for the adults and nail varnishes and make up bits for the teens and mini toys for the children all bought from the pound shop, I also bought a lottery scratch card for each one and placed a chocolate coin to scratch then I added some mini bubbles and mini candy canes. One final thing was my 9 year old son decided to stick stickers on the hats with famous peoples names on which whilst waiting on lunch we all had a little game of guess who you are..
They went down a treat everyone loved them and they didn't cost much as most of the things added were bought from pound world or B&m / home bargains ect.
I'm defo doing them again theis year

I usually do home made crackers too, but last year did Pots of Gold for a change, including a Christmas scratchcard for everyone - they went down very well, and out of 10 guests, one won £1 and one won £30
