OP, do you won your own home? Have any debt?
I would suggest you start a personal pension now while you are waiting fo your company to offer one. And carry on saving outslde the pension as well- you have a lot of ground to catch up.
But do take comfort from the fact that every 80 you pay in will become 100 with tax relief0 -
If the school in Carlisle was a state school contact the teachers pension scheme. With your NI number they will be able to track your pension for you.0

Not if he wasn't a teacher. Other staff belong to the LGPS.0
