  • Hi
just did a tesco shop baileys is comparing to morrisions as is the Heinz beans. I know the beans have a error in comparing in asda , but my local asda has had no beans for three days. Over £9 PP.
Am I right in thinking that tesco should still compare the baileys to morrisions on Monday. Or do they update on Sunday. Could be handy with the £5 helping hands voucher

It was for recover at 9am, they were oos on ms last night before my shop but they still confirmed. Also used fillers for a vs s - Schwartz Tarragon comparing as £1.00 in s. I bought x3, thought if this helps anyone. Thanks to everyone who posts though x
  • That's strange. I did two shops, one directly after the other. Almost exactly same items, but added one fajita to the shop. It has 9 items on the receipt. All different bar codes and it says not enough items. :(

Both Green Mark shops done at approx15.20 today

:think:Why a Waities shop? Surely a good item Avs T?

Sorry Savvy, should have explained . I just find it hard to find anything cheaper or same price and if you are wanting cream anyway, you could add it to a vodka shop.

I can suggest a few improvements to the new A Fajita packs.

    1. Remove chicken from packet.
    2. Remove garlic oil, fajita mix and sauce.
    3. Bin garlic oil, fajita mix and sauce.
    4. Cook chicken as normal :).

I like Fajita but am not not at all keen on this recipe ... :(.

Recover should have counted as it was a visible or self contained trigger? - ie pay 2 for £3, APG saw original price £2.37 each as multi not showing and matched against S at £1. Unfortunately not working as disappeared off A hence causing it not to work.

The SP price is unfair for normal shoppers on a tight budget as they may assume they are getting the best price when clearly thry are not.

    Therefore doesn't count!

You are quite correct. They have increased prices on a number of SP items (and, to be fair, competitors have also increased prices on some items on their equivalent ranges), this is exactly where it comes down and hurts. And terms such as "Smart" price, "Value" and "Savers" tend to suggest they are good price/best value/making a saving!

Not always the case. Sometimes T Finest can be cheaper than Value! Sometimes mid-range vs competitor is cheaper than Value. And sometimes the smaller pack that is more expensively priced works out cheaper (vs a rival) than the 'cheaper' bigger pack. None of which will be obvious to your average consumer I suspect.

It's another of those 'switching offers onto some other item' and the tactical manoeuvres that all the supermarkets (and including the 'discounters' too) do in order I suspect to make us think we are getting the best value. Make it as complex and complicated as possible for your average person to work out what is best priced...and see them overpaying and thus how we make our profits! It's the same though with loss leaders, selling at a loss on a 'headline offer', that draws customers into the store but then they likely will spend and buy other items too and pay more on those, thus offsetting the loss and, again, ending up with the store in profit.

These are commercial businesses after all - that's what they are supposed to do! Make a profit. There's got to be some reason why, despite all the 'half prices' and 'better' labellings and promotions all over the place, the stores still post billions in profits. And there (some of) it is! Above.

As for SP etc., it's again all about 'consumer behaviour analysis' - which doubtless says that consumers generally assume 'value' range etc. to be cheaper. Given that assumption, which may sometimes be an incorrect assumption, generally held by most people, you can simply price a different range (almost unnoticeably to most people) cheaper and see people paying through the nose on 'value' items that they assume to be cheaper. And certainly have not got time in a busy store, weekly shop, to check. Sometimes a 'branded' item on promotion is cheaper than the own brand! But, then, most people just pick their favoured - same - brand every week. And thus pay more and more on the times when it's not on offer and only save on the week or few weeks when it is. (And then are paying full price on other items in their shopping that they also buy and stick with week after week.)

Occasionally, they may get a self-kick up the bum by accidentally happening to find another item (e.g. loose apples) goes on cheaper - perhaps for a week or two! - than the packs they normally get. And then they'll stick with the loose ones despite the packs, thereafter, going back to being consistently cheaper! They do not check, and do not have time to check, every time, each week and week, to make sure they are still getting the best value. (And, even us that do - sometimes we get something, often to find a cheaper offer comes into existence not long later.)

Oh dear, my head is so mixed up with all these glitches on at the same time! I meant for a Cobra shop at waitrose! Please excuse moi! :o:p
