 all. Em and I went to one of Ts food events this evening. After spending 2.5 hours getting across London (grrr to rush hour) it was interesting, but a little bit too much talk. They asked us things such as if we knew how to make a perfect cup of tea and coffee, followed by chocolate samples where we were asked to smell the chocolate and say what we thought it smelled like (erm... chocolate?). Needless to say we were slyly chuckling in the back, particularly at the biscuits 'have you tried these?' *thinks of 16 packets sitting at home*. The store manager was really nice to us though and listened to feedback. We ended up getting a free bag with pasta, mushrooms, cheese, chocolate and a recipe card.
Also managed to get some tissues earlier too, but no cereal. Hope you're all well! :A
P.S. special thanks to VT, you know what you did!'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -

Went out early this morning & went FAR too wild on the Special K - 9 boxes of assorted cereals and 18 boxes of cereal bars = £18. Stupid as had 2 x£3 off £20 spends in pocket. Phoned hubby to tell him it had worked & to check he was OK & he said "Why not do another shop for the bars" - he likes these & does get fairly frequent hypos so we always have some at hand - by bed, by computer, downstairs & in car.
I reckoned we use on average about 2-3 boxes per week so looked at the dates & most were May-June next year. Did a quick calculation and bought another 30! OMG! Remembered to use the £3 off this time.
Had NO problems at all taking them through manned tills, both operators said "Oh, these are a bargain!" Hadn't seen either op before as don't normally shop during daylight hoursdue to no whoopsies.
Did leave some behind for others although I did make a big dent in the amount on the shelves.
NO MORE chocolate or biscuit glitches for me for a LONG time. Unless it's snickers or topic bars I'm NOT buying ANY more!
Did a stock check & I have 3 Milk Tray, 2 Lily O'Brien, 1 fingers and 2 Vinnies from last years bumper bonanza still. I also have quite a few cereals - another 9 will easily last us another year with what is there already. I've given quite a few away and find all the chocs terribly sickly. Also I have about 30 Foxes & Maryland from the recent glitch so I need NO MORE biscuits! Think I'm going to give most of the Foxes away. The Special K moments aren't THAT bad & they are good for hypos.0 -

I know what you mean, had my fill of chocolate and biscuits! Still have 60 packs left of biccies and I've given loads away. What I don't use at Christmas the food bank can have! I wish they'd accept baked goods though, have so much bread flour to use up. How are you doing now? :A'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good'0 -

Still a bit stressed but things are looking up a bit. Hubby's copious amounts of meds. have been changed slightly & I've got my old funny hubby back. NOT the grumpy almost suicidal man that I didn't know! VERY thankful for that & it's taken a lot of the stress off, thanks.Unfortunately he's still sleeping FAR too much & I'm still worried sick if I leave him for an hour to do a shop BUT at least he's nearly back to his old self.
We've had DLA in for him since February - he was turned down twice for ANYTHING! This morning we were advised that they finally are giving him FULL mobility - so they bleedin well should as he can barely walk 10yds & then he's in severe pain. At least we will have SOME money coming in at last, as things were extremely squeaky to say the least as we have had nothing from anyone - both turned down for ESA? 2yrs ago! Before that (he's been ill for 6-7yrs + I had major shoulder surgery which didn't work 3+yrs ago) we didn't realise we could claim anything as self-employed. My pension pot is down to hundreds of pounds from a VERY, very healthy amount - which caused more stress.
However they have turned him down for ANY care yet again - despite his heart bumps, angina, severe asthma, syncopy and anaphylaxis episodes. There is NO WAY he can be left alone for any length of time at all - I hate leaving him for 5 mins - but they say he's not a danger to himself or to anyone else! OMG! We did ask that he have a face to face with a board but it seems someone has decided NO we're not going to get this! Need to phone CAB to see if they can help at all as if he can't get to his meds (highly likely) then he could just die. I suppose then the problem of whether he's entitled to anything goes out the window!
It's SO frustrating and NOT what someone who is genuinely ill needs to hear. The forms are horrendous, everything was put down in triplicate, even our doc did a wonderful letter explaining his problems but some bleedin pen pusher has decided, without seeing him, that he has NO problems that need care! It makes me FUME!0 -

Ds3 has a life limiting illness and it took 3 goes to get DLA for him and then we cheated by using someone's form who got it at the 4th go with a child with the same disease and all we did was copy there info as it is the same for both boys:o
Mrsnerf looks after that side of the family business as it would bug the life out of me spending all that time filling the forms out with stupid questions like is his condition going to get any better- no he has an in curable disease:mad:0
