Acronis true image problem, ideas welcome?

Hi folks,
I'm using acronis home 2010. I have a number of partitions on my hard drive C (windows7 primary) D (windows xp active) E (windows 7 Logical) and F (windows 8 logical)
I also have a separate internal hard drive Z that I use to backup my images to.
My default OS is windows 7 on C drive and I do all the backup and restores from within this OS
I am able to backup and restore all the images with the exception of windows 8 on partition F (logical). I used to be able to backup windows 8 no problem, but for some reason it wont let me now. I just get an error message some time after I start the backup.
Is there now something about windows 8 on a logical drive that won't allow me to back it up? All other partitions seem to back up fine.
I have posted as well on acronis forums.
Any ideas welcome as to why I can't backup windows 8 when doing it on the windows 7 on drive C.
Thank you for any ideas.
Joe

Give us a clue then what is the message? Also try using a standalone backup from the boot disk.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy

Thanks for reply. All the message is that the operation failed. As regards the boot disk even though I only tick the windows 8 partition to backup it also will include the main C windows 7 partition as well, which takes the backup well over 124gb for both, which I don't want, only the windows 8 which was usually 32gb.
The only thing I can think of is maybe it was the Microsoft update to the netframework or whatever it is called that was done lately.
Just stragne that acronis will back up my other logical drive E which has windows 7 but not windows 8 also a logical partition. All OS on the one drive my the way, the backups are to a separate hard drive.
Has anyone used Easeus as I see it has got pretty good reviews?
Thanks so much

You missed my point, I meant boot from the acronis recovery disk(cd) and try the W8 backup from there, but I would first make sure that the W8 partition doesn't need chdsk running on it. [STRIKE]Goto W7 and right click on the Z?(W8) disk and tools, check drive it may be just because the W8 wasn't unmounted cleanly, [/STRIKE]better still fire up thw W8 and shut it down again.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Do you have Windows 8 Fast Startup enabled?
If you have a default setup of Windows 8 you will have Fast Startup, and when you switch it off, you don't actually fully shut it down.
Instead, Windows 8 hibernates some parts of the operating system memory to disk, and when you switch it on again, instead of booting from scratch, it un-hibernates those bits of the OS and then loads the rest, which is quicker.
However because you aren't switching off properly, it isn't a great setup when you're dual-booting, and I wonder if it's also upsetting Acronis.
To check it, go into Control Panel, then Power Options, then "Choose what the power buttons do". You should see a Fast Startup option here and you can untick it.
A quicker way to try would be to try switching off windows 8 using this command (save your work first) at a Command Prompt or from the keyboard combination: <WindowsKey> <R>:
shutdown.exe /s /t 030 -
I would have though that as Acronis 2010 (which I also use on Xp) is way before Win 8 was invented let alone released it might not like lots of OS stuff released after...or that it might work/not work on occassions or might work part of the time.
I recall many even having problems with the AC2010 early release editions when used on Win7 until they brought out some subsequent updates to it.0 -
I believe Acronis 2010 is not compatible with Windows 8, see the Acronis website. This is regardless of whether or not you backed it up before. Alternatively, try sector-by-sector? may work.
Or upgrade to 2013 with Plus Pack (perhaps).

From memory it is due to the protected boot up on win 8.
EFI or something like that its called .
Current Acronis works on Win 8.0
