I was told that Durolane (hyaluronic acid) injections can relieve pain for an arthritic hip or knee and wondered if anyone is having these and how successful they are.
I have a bad hip with quite a lot of pain but as I can rotate it 45 degrees I dont qualify for a new hip yet but would like to stop taking pain killers.

I have had Durolane. It aint the most pleasant of injections but it sure does ease the pain. I had a cartilage operation where a lot of cartilage was removed. Since that op I have been in consstant pain and have been restricted in my day to day routine. I have not worked as a plasterer since July and tried many different pain killers without much relief. This drolane is fantastic, i had virtual instatnt pain relief.

Thanks Denn and welcome to MSE.
I was told that Durolane is great for knees but not so good for hips so it's carry on with the painkillers for me.
Hopefully you will now be able to get back to work, I know it is very hard to find plasterers.0 -
Hi lolly. Since I typed that reply my knee has got worse. espite giving me instant pain relief my knee flared up again. Its almost two weeks since that painful jab and shortly after writing the reply I have been unable to walk properly. I phoned the surgeon for him to tell me in some people its normal, for others is aint. I can just about feel the pain easing but Im struggling to walk properly as yet. Surgeon said he needle penatrated the wound where they went in for key hole and will take about two weeks to settle again. As for the injection, if it does eventualy begin to give more relief then would have another, at the moment Im not bothering again.
