Utility Bills & refunded money

Am going to the BR court during this wk or next, but it just occurred to me that as I've recently applied to change gas & elec supplier that I may be due a refund from my current supplier when it goes through? If that happens should I tell the OR as the money has in effect already been spent towards utility bills & any refunded money would need to go to to the new supplier to allow for budgeting for the winter months, or else I'd fall behind as average monthly amounts paid across a yr.

You can let the OR know - the chances are that unless you're talking about £100's they won't be interested but at least you know that you'll have told them everything.0

My water co. closed my account & opened me another even though they actually owed me money! First I heard was when a letter/statement arrived. I rung up & asked what was going on. I mentioned bankruptcy. But then they offered to put the cash I had left over (they owed me remember) from my old acct into my new acct!! Eh?
:wall:
If anything I thought the old money would have to go to OR & I'd start again from zero.0 -
I didn't even think about my utilities when I went BR, I was up to date with the DD's but did have debit balances at the point of BR (large winter bills) I was stunned when both the fuel and water co's sent me letters saying arrears were cleared and new accounts set up. Because I'd made an extra payment for fuel by debit card (I thought I might be given a pre paid meter but turns out that was not going to happen anyway) the extra money was credited to the new accounts.
From what I gather, some OR's tell the utility companies and some don't. It was certainly a welcome surprise.0
