  • Sorry to hear all that- what a dreadful situation for you. You must be so stressed.
I wonder if there is a legal route for your mum? Perhaps its worth asking another question here to see if anyone can help her?

OP I know you have your parents best interests at heart and I commend you for trying to help them.

But your plan is fraught with problems on so many levels.

I suggest that you help them to sort their own problems out, by pointing them in the direction of mental health care professionals, maybe finding a divorce solicitor who will give your mum a free half hour to explain the issues, find out about any state benefits they may each be entitled to if they were to rent separate houses.

But don't sink your own money or sacrifice your own business prospects to bail them out. It won't work. They will still be unhappy, and you will have a millstone around you neck for years to come. It is a recipe for disaster.

I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
