ok to cut a long story short, my parter had to leave work cos of issues i dont wanna go into atm so we decided that i should go back to work (after a year off been a house husband)
now i cannot get a job anyware, i applied to all the agencies in the area i have applied to everything i could but nothing is coming in
she does part time cleaning and we do some home work for a local party company, that keeps money coming in but its not enough.
our mortgage is about to go up, we are already 2 months in arrears ><
so we are thinking about selling our home and renting and that would pay off all our debts and leave us a bit extra, but that could take forever giving the rise in house prices ><
so an option could be to declare bankrupcy?
so my questions are, if i was to do this would i be able to find a house to rent, get moved in and then declare it?
would doing this make it harder for me to rent?
if i did it would the house be sold solely to pay of the debts?
if i could find a job soon then this all becomes irrelevant but i need to be realistic about it.
any tips/ideas??
thanks.

Ok! First things first. What sort of job are you looking for?BR 18 Oct 2006 Discharged 16 April 2007 :T0

OK..
Most landlords use letting agencies that do credit checks. As a BR, you're gonna have a hell of a time so you need to rent before you bank.
If the OR sells the house, it's at auction and any money after the mortgage/secured loans are paid is given to the people you owe.0 -
thanks for the replies peeps :money:
thing is as i am 2 months in arrears with my mortgage i assumed the best thing to do was get in before my bank takes any action, or is it a bit extreme to think my bank will take action for 2 months of arrears? as i have kept up my payments since day 1, maybe i should phone them?
i am already with cccs and all is going swimmingly, well, up until this latest hiccup.
if i can just land one of the many jobs i have applied for then all is not lost

i dont realy know why remmer wants to know what job your looking for
Because my Bro works in the recruitment sector and could point the OP in the right direction. That's all! We don't always restrict ourselves to the point in question. It's called lateral thinking mate! And, !!!!!! is an undishcharged bankrupt??? More water with it methinks! Sorry Regs, maybe turning into troll???BR 18 Oct 2006 Discharged 16 April 2007 :T0 -

If you are already with CCCS I would give them a ring and talk about your change in circumstances. They may be able to sort something out for you. Is it an IVA or a DMP you have?
There have been a couple of people on the boards who have managed to get a rental property just before or after BR. The tips seem to be go to a smaller agency as they don't do as indepth checks or rent privatley cutting out the middle man.

Hi Remmer,
I know how you feel.
The solution to the OP's problem was getting a job: you identified that as being the pivotal factor; others didn't. It's not your mistake, it's not theirs; it's just called being a human being.
God, how I envy engines and machines and computers; it either works or it doesn't; it's right or it's wrong.
Not the case for us guys & gals. You can give or receive the best advice in the world, but get the message ever so slightly wrong and you might as well be advocating the return of the poll tax.
(Er, wasn't that a tax based on the level of services consumed; why asn't that popular then ? :rotfl: :rotfl: ) I was out of the counrty at the time so missed all the intrigue

actualy richard he asked... what sort of work are you looking for... so try reading the thread properly... and how exactly is that identfied as a pivotal factor.. im sure emmaroids already knows that finding a job is the key factor... that isnt what he wanted advice for so why not try answering the questions emmaroids does ask instead of the ones he doesnt ask. and iv read some of remmers replies and some of them are so way of base anyway so if he wants to cry a river and dissapear... so be it !!!!!!
It was a perfectly reasonable question as bankrupts are excluded from certain jobs, notably in the financial and legal sectors. If OP has ambitions to work in these professions, then bankruptcy may not be the best option.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
