Going sick while on a final written

Hi all, I'm not asking for my self but for a work mate...
Just over a year ago a few of the lad inc my self got in to trouble in work and where suspended.
Now all of us have finished are warning and our records are clean.
But one of the lads delayed his hearing and it ended up dragging on for 8 more weeks.
Now he has come back to work but instead of keeping his nose clean he has got I'm self in to a little bit of trouble.
Now there is no sertanty that he is in trouble but he is bricking him self incase he has been caught.
Again we don't know if he has
But he has gone on the sick in the hope he can drag this out till after his warning has finished. But I'm sure because he comment the offence during the time he was on a warning it makes no diffrence.
So I'm hoping some one may have the right answer on this one for him.
Thanks

1) Dragging it out won't make any difference
2) Is he getting fake fit notes from doctor - that's another dismissal issue he is facing if found out.
3) Time for him to grow up and stop arsing around. Does he want a job or not?Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
I guess any sympathy the employer had for his situation has now been removed by his own immaturity.
He's making things worse.0 -

in short, im up to my neck in it. I have been suspended on full pay for alligations that I and others in work commited a offence that has been classed as gross misconduct.
I denied all knowlage while other confirmed that they did it and thought it was ok to do it.
my hearing is on werdnesday, the others have all had there meetings & been given a final warning. But some have named me as knowing about the offence and have spoken to them about it in the past. One also named me as the person who shown him how to commit this offence (not true)
so Im lost.... I think I maybe able to convince someone to take the wrap for me as far as the original offence is concerned. But then is the fact I lied about not knowing anything of this allegation let alone doing it.
So do I go in there and admit everything.... from start to finish and ask to be shown mercy.
or do I get this person to take the wrap for the offence and admit I lied about not knowning anything about the offence.
or continue to deny everything still??
if some of this makes no sense im sorry im all of a panic. I could loss my job 8 weeks before crimbo with a family to feed

For posterity as I can see it disappearing when the OP returns.0 -
No as admitted in my opening post I got in trouble last year,
I got a 9 month written warning.
I'm clear now and kept my nose clean. This really is for a work friend who was not so lucky0 -

Sounds like you and your friend should start to think about things before doing them.
Tell your friend to pick up the phone to his boss and go in and sort it out. He'll get a lot more respect like that.0 -

In a ideal world that would be great, but he is on a final written warning and hoping the boss has not picked up on his messup0
