Hi Experts,
Will be thankful if someone can help me.
We are almost there to finish our dreams to buy new home. The mortgage offer has been issued, the contracts have been signed today and the same will be exchanged early next week, and finally the legal completion has been set for 24th october.
The mortgage is just on my name and my wife is not part of the application. However she has gifted me £3000 for deposit which has been fine with solicitor and lender (provided my wife gives letter stating she is not interested in money, etc)
The total deposit for home I need to pay is £8000 and we have ordered few extra appliances of about £2000. Also the additional land registry and solicitor costs come around £2500 - so total I need to pay is 8000+2000+2500 = £12,500. The conveyancer has said to pay this amount to their account in next few days.
My question is: Can I pay £8000 (out of which £3000 has come form wife) from my account and my wife pays the remaining costs for solicitor fees, land registry and appliances of £4500? As the remaining money is in my wifes account, she will be the one paying for this.
Please note that our solicitor / lender has not asked for proof of deposit - can they request this at this stage when contracts have been exchanged?
Any help or feedback will be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
P

They can ask for proof, ours didn't thoughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
