CEMAP revision notes updates?

okay guys

Had a slight prob when studying for CEMAP before.

But now I have succesfully been able to get the CCJ removed off my account :D:D which means it's worthwhile for me to do the course.

I have outdated revision notes which are from 2011-2012.

Would the 2013-2014 notes be much different ? Someone told me stick to the old notes and get the latest tax info.

what are your opinions?

Having a CCJ shouldnt stop you studying for cempa or even getting a job as an advisor - i know ex bankrupts who are advising.

It never hurts to have the most up to date info. Tax info would have changed and i assume info regarding the FSA/FCA would be different also.

Thanks ACG. I was adviced by many people that it would have been difficult for me to acquire a job as apposed to someone without a CCJ.

Anyway, it's off now. Thank goodness. I just need to advice the relevant credit ref agencies. That this has happened.

Ok looks like I best new revision guide. It doesnt cost that much on ebay anyway :)

You have to be considered a fit and proper person to be an adviser - which involves at the very least a public domain credit check, but can be as far as a full CRA assessment.

Adverse credit does affect the FPP assessment, and dependant upon the details of the adverse and the employers assessment, can obviously affect your application.

    Anyhoo, its off.

With regards CeMAP - the exam syllabus can and does change, personally to give the best chance of success, I would always work from the current study modules (inc past papers), as I've always done in all my sittings both with IFS and CII.

    Good luck ....

    Hope this helps

I'd be inclined to get the official stuff. I did the MAQ as a top up to the FPC and the past papers were probably the most useful, IIRC there were model answers to go with them. I presume similar things are available for CeMAP.
    IANAL etc.

I would also get the current study text from IFS - the study texts are expensive, both IFS and CII papers , but in reality you want to make sure that your knowledge, especially as a newbie, is the most current (along with reading industry press to supplement your understanding and continued development and tutor/study group assistance if funds permit).

If you're the same guy from a while ago, then you'll know I've already discussed the many benefits and value of past papers, pneumoics and mind mapping as worthy study tools.

    Hope this helps

  • There have been several significant changes since 2011/12. In particular, the changes to PPI sales rules, the Mortgage Market Review, the government backed guarantee to get first time buyers into the market and the change of regulator.

So I think that you need up to date material.

This will cost £155 per module I believe, but includes one crack at the exam.

Holly yes it was me who you was advising about revision techniques before.
When you say industry press. Is there any particular mags etc that you can suggest. Id quite like to get into the habbit of reading stuff like this.

Thanks for that ACG, I just had a quick whirl in the mortgage strategy site. It looks pretty good. I like the 60 seconds news section.
I noticed they also do a magzine. Do you know if its just the same info/ news as the Internet website?
