You can try another lender if you like.

But before you do its important to get to bottom of why you were refused. There is no point applying blindly as that will not help at all (unless you just happen to get lucky).

Ask the lender why they declined you if you dont already know.
Get all 3 copies of your credit report (equifax, experien and noddle) - see if there is any adverse markers on there - missed payments, defaults, ccj's etc.
Then speak to the lenders BEFORE doing anymore credit searches to see if they will accept you.

Alternatively get in touch with a mortgage broker and let them do the leg work for you and find a lender who will accept you.

  • As ACG mentioned rather than focusing on 'what if it's refused' focus on WHY WOULD IT BE refused.

Have you got blemishes on your file ? missed payments, ccjs, defaults? It's crucial that you have a look at your file before you make any applications and ask yourself if you would seem a good candidate to an under writer.

What's your debt to credit ratio ? How much do you earn? Are you on the electoral roll ? Have you been stable the past 3 years ?

These are things you need to ask yourself rather than worrying about if it's approved strategically look at your file and see why they wouldn't!

    Good Luck.

You need your broker to find out why you have been declined.

As a broker i would never make a blind application - its a waste of my time, its waste of your time and it has the potential to ruin your credit report.
