What's so offensive about clean washing anyway?

"I'm not a xenophobe but" I just refer to ethnic minorities as gypsies because I clearly am one.
Eurgh.
And some back yards in rental properties in S Belfast are disgusting because landlords don't keep them well, and tiny which means your washing is smacking up against the dirty walls and oil tank. So I don't blame them for not hanging their washing out the back.
I agree some back yards in rental properties are disgusting .However in my experience I would not by choice live near these people .
They did try to force their way past me at my front door ,they did enter the house and take a mobile phone belonging to a workman (his fault for leaving the door open) they did enter the house after I sold it and stole tools and where caught in the house the following day . At the time I was paying £1200 rates to live beside this.I think rates are high enough without buying clothes horses for anyone .Thats my experience ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

Where do you suggest they do live? and what people do you think they should live beside?0 -
But why shouldn't people hang their washing out...
Very money saving, not sure what the issue is or why anyone would complain?0 -
God there are some real snobs about!!
I'd love to know how everyone would have coped back in the days when there was no such thing as central heating!!! When toilets were out in the back garden, and you got a bath in a tub in front of the fire (if you were lucky) WHen putting the clothes out on the fences etc was the only way to dry the washing!
Can't see why people are complaining about people DRYING THEIR CLOTHES??? I mean seriously???, that's all people have to worry about these days??
At least you know they are washing their clothes! Unlike most snobs, us normal people don't have the room, nor can afford to have their clothes dry-cleaned, have tumble driers etc.
God forbid people would want to dry their clothes in the good weather when we have the chance, I had my washing out on my fence and the back of my garden chairs this week as we had a good few drying days. Also meant I saved my money again as I didn't have to put my heat on.
If someone came to me or I was told they had had a complaint that I'd have my washing outside to dry, I'd go in, wash all the clothing I had and put the lot in the garden to annoy you even more! NO-ONE has the right to tell me where or how I can and cannot dry my clothes or anything else to do with my life!
I'm actually disgusted at a few comments on this thread, racist and snob and downright rude come to mind. I pity the people who live around you if that's what they have to put up with!
Everyone, be they from Ireland, England, Spain or the planet Mars have the right to live how they want and when they want. People going around these days thinking they are better than someone else and look down their nose at others, REALLY need to have a good hard look at themselves and ask themselves some serious questions!
People may dry their clothes outside, people may eat different food from you, or people may not have as much money than you do, but I'll tell you what they WILL have. They will have respect, manners, and they will have a better life than you will ever have!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
I object to having to look at my neighbour's oversize knickers on their washing line but there's not a thing I can do about it. You just can't choose your neighbours!Norn Iron Club Member 330

Here's my prediction - pretty soon xenophobia will be hip and trendy, with celebrity endorsement and politicians making speeches appealing to the xenophobe community.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0
