Council Tax Must Be Paid Back

Evening all,
I have just received a letter from Council Tax department telling me that I have to pay back what was overpaid to them.
I included it in my bankruptcy but they are going to take it back at nearly £28 a week from my benefits. Letter says I CANNOT appeal the decision.
I spoke to OR and they said this is normal????
Now I have no surplus income at all, in fact still working at a loss, this is going to be tough.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Hi moyilla,
Was it a benefit overpaid by them to you? I don't have any personal experience of benefit payments but some of the other guys & gals on here do and I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Hi
Yes it was a benefit overpayment by them.
Also I have been told that I will have to pay back a social fund loan too.
I did not expect this at all.
Got that horrible feeling back of having to pay creditors again, not nice.0 -

Hi moyilla,
Have you posted an Income & Expenditure A/C on here? There may be ways that people can suggest to reduce your expenditure without affecting your quality of life. It is a struggle living without credit but it does teach you valuable lessons about making the most of the money you have got. Have you checked the "entitledto" web site to make sure you're claiming all the benefits you're entitled to?

Hi,
I posted a similar question a while ago,(although i'm not at BR yet just have an attachment of earnings) and was told it was very unlikely they would allow any reduction.
It seems so unfair. You trying to get yourself back on your feet and they kick you in the ankles.
Good luck and sorry i can't be any more help. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0
