The 'Rogue' Asda voucher code

Options
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - but I wondered if anyone else had experienced the 'rogue' Asda voucher code yesterday?

We did not have the £50 voucher, but a £25 one, which Asda are not honouring. That's fine - it was worth a try.... but they are honouring many other sales made using the codes, which is where I think an issue arises.

Can they honour some transactions and not others? For example, a friend of mine used his £25 off the price of a £125 TV and he has had his order honoured, yet we used our £25 to buy nappies and baby milk, and we've been told we can't have them.

I know the top and tail of it is that I would like some free stuff - but it seems this is a real mess-up by Asda!

No shop has to sell you anything, they can honour the sales they want to and not honour the ones they don't want to.

All you do when you place an order is make an offer to treat, they can accept or reject this offer. They could amend it and make a counter offer for you to either accept or reject. Until the treat has been agreed there is no contract formed.
  • Just wondering if everyone has had an e-mail about orders being cancelled or not being able to use the codes??
  • I have 3 orders set for delivery over the weekend. Think they will be all cancelled. Will be interesting for those who have had delivery and then an e mail saying cancelled. Surely asda cant charge for full amount by disregarding the voucher

What are the terms of the voucher? A lot of money off vouchers and similar cannot be redeemed against certain goods. These often include cigarettes, lottery tickets and baby formula.

I have an interesting problem regarding this voucher, I placed an order yesterday using the £50 off ecoupon, received my delivery confirmation and then received my delivery this morning, some items were missing so the invoice instead of giving a total gave me
-12.35, on the invoice it was clear that the evoucher had been honoured.

This afternoon I received an email from Asda saying that due to an error with the voucher they had cancelled my order and I could reorder the items but the voucher would not be accepted, they haven't yet debited my account so is it likely they will take the full amount and are they allowed to?

    No they are not.

I had my order delivered this morning, and the cancellation email this afternoon. My bank shows the delivery fee and the amount above fifty pounds as pending, and as I haven't given my permission for them to take fifty pounds extra then they shouldn't as I have the reciept from the driver showing the price and when I took delivery I imagine that was the conclusion of the contract. But! nothing would surprise me so I will be keeping an eye on my account for a few days

have you checked the terms and conditions for purchasing from them online - there must be something in there about charging as I know they already charge on the day, not what you order online.

They must have covered them for the vouchers...and given the wide press on this issue they can't have got this wrong....can they?

If they supplied an invoice on the day then that is the amount they are allowed to take surely, even with the terms saying the prices will be set on the day of delivery?

It's a little unfair that they can change the price you agreed to without highlighting that as part of the delivery and giving you the chance to reject the items (or at least Tesco do that so I assume Asda are the same).

However it would be totally unfair if they could charge you an amount that was more than what was on the invoice. That really does give customers no chance to reject the goods as they may well have used them before the change is made!

Entirely depends on the terms of the vouchers. If the vouchers are only valid for those who receive them then surely they are covered to charge when a voucher has been misused?

How is it different to what very do when they cancel a voucher code post delivery?
