What is the stance with approaching agencies if you want to rent a property?
Does BR mean you've no hope of being accepted?

Hi Bakey,
I think it's a case of the more no's you get the more chance you stand of somebody saying yes. We were both bankrupt when we started looking for rented property and some agents said no not under any circumstances, others said yes if you've got a guarantor, a couple said yes with six months rent in advance, and one said "I'm not bothered, write an accompanying letter with your application and let the landlord decide". We wrote a long, well thought our letter and got a "yes".
Some posters have said that the only reason they do credit checks is to confirm your employment and residencey status but I've got no personal experience of that.
We contacted every letting and estate agency and you need to be thick skinned to put up with the rebuttals but you'll find somewhere if you keep at it.
Regards
