Santander FTB Mortgage

Hi first post so be kind haha

We put an offer in for a house asking price was £115k we were accepted at £113k

We have 15% deposit and had a DIP sorted

Broker came over yesterday took payslips, bank statements, ID, Details of house, references etc P60 and letter from my Mum who is gifting our deposit said he would rather send it all off with the application as a nice complete application rather then them asking for different things

Question is how long do they take? Are they notoriously slow? I know they used to be in like 2011.

Also who do they use for valuation as we get this free and Im worried they may under value the house how common is this?

Thanks xxx

  • Hi, we are using Santander as a FTB but directly to them and not through a broker. They use Esurv for their valuation and ours was booked in for about 2 weeks after our meeting with their mortgage advisor. And our formal mortgage offer came through the post within a week of the valuation but we were told by the mortgage advisor within a day or 2 that the valuation was ok. She has been keeping an eye on our case and keeping us updated with everything. In my opinion its all gone rather. quickly quickly

if you want it all to go sideways - yes you can.

if you apply via a broker you must let them deal with the case, or the lender gets confused messages and it can cause complications.

If he does not have holiday cover (and why would you deal with a 'business' that does not?) all you can do is to make sure he has supplied Santander with everything they have requested before he goes on holiday.

Final point, if he has done his job properly, supplied everything to the lender, and there are no complications his absence will be irrelevant to the speed of the case.
