Waterproofs

Hello everyone, can anyone tell me where I buy a good lightweight, breathable waterproof jacket. I am fed up with wasting money on supposedly waterproof jackets, they either let the rain in after a short time and/or you feel as if you are in a sauna  I say lightweight because I do not need it for warmth, just to keep the rain off.
Thank you for any help.

I got mine from TK Maxx! I never normally go into this shop as it always seems such a muddle but my friend wanted to have a look. They had an outdoor rail and I got a Regatta waterproof which has a detachable fleece inside for £35. Even though I wasn't really looking for a jacket at the time I knew this was a good buy and I have worn it loads of times, both with and without the fleece and I have stayed dry so far!!! :D

Buy one of the top brands (I know I went on about brands in another thread being bad) but I bought a Sprayway about 14 years ago and it still keeps my dad dry. Yes I got bored of it after 6 years so as i was getting ready to take it to the charity shop he decided to have it.

I tried a few alternatives I bought a north face down filled parker, It is like wearing a sleeping bag and keeps me dry but isnt light weight in the slightest. I also have a North Face lighter northface cost and its fantastic I went watching the GB rally last year and got covered in the track it just rinsed off. I have been out i nit the last few days in the rain without getting wet other than my legs where it ended.

Berghaus are also excelent, I know a few who have different designs and I prefer berghaus fleaces to sprayway and north face. but I know your not bothered about keeping warm.

Have you tried your local cycling shop? I got very good and lightweight jacket and over-trousers that are still going strong 7 years later, great bonus is that they both roll up really small so are extremely portable, only to be expected for a cycling accesory.
