Nintendo 3ds e-shop credit

My son had £119.99 credited in the e-shop on his Nintendo 3ds and we don't know where it has come from. Our credit cards aren't showing any pending payment and the credit shows as an adjusted payment. Our card details aren't stored on there so he couldn't have done it himself. Unfortunately ds was so excited at this unexpected windfall that he spent £35 of it on a game - that he already owns! He only told us about it a few days after he did it. I am genuinely baffled as I can't find out any more information as to where it has come from. I am inclined to wait until Nintendo discover their mistake but have instructed ds not to spend anymore of it. Anyone got any ideas?

He may have won a comp but you can try ringing them and asking.

Update for anyone who's interested: I called Nintendo who confirmed the money had not come from my account or anyone else's. They said they would investigate and come back to us, which they did today. The upshot is that the credit was a glitch and Nintendo have no idea how it happened. As a result they have said we can keep it all which DS is very happy about :j
