When using Google, you can cancel out some options.

For example, if your name is David Cameron, you would search

david cameron +winner -prime minister -tory

That way no references to David Cameron PM would be shown.

Not sure whether I've explained very well.

Just tried it and it worked!

Update. it works really well, had to add several - - - to my search, will now bookmark it for later.

Another vote for not changing it for comping, there's no need! I got married too on the 24th and I'm not changing mine in any aspect of life. Shame though as my name is dead common to the point that I can't really google for wins! Maybe I need to do the opposite and have his name for comping only!

I suppose I'm lucky in that my name is pretty unusual, in fact I'd be surprised if there was another one anywhere in the world, so when I google my name then if it comes up it's likely to be me

Okaaay!!...so as a newbie !? How the heck do you 'google search' to see if you've won anything ?? I mean obviously you Google your own name but anything else ?? and does it work for only certain comps ??
