FWIW I haven't been to Old Trafford since 10 May 2005, as i refuse to fund the Glazer occupation.

A lot of people think I'm a crank, but it sits fine with me and a lot like me.

Seems we don't both just have mortgage broking in common:)

I'm exactly the same. I used to be a home and away red, but I have not funded those blood sucking leeches with a single penny since 2005.
Their chickens are going to come home to roost soon though. Most of the rank and file will turn a blind eye to what is going on off the field if the team is still winning things, but they won't be so happy if we are no longer challenging for honours. Glazers have to be careful they don't kill the golden goose with their constant penny pinching:(

I think the appointment of Moyes will be the death of the golden goose. Ferguson performed miracles during his tenure. I was glad to see the back of Moyes' negative dithering tactics.

I paid for my own independent RICS valuation. This didn't raise the shops as an issue. But I think it was Barclay's own valuation which flagged up the shops. Their valuer didn't mention to me that this might be an issue on the day. She just said that she'd "'ok' everything for me today" So it was a bit of a surprise. I guess they're being extra cautious now, but realistically, how is William Hill or Superdrug 'downstairs' going to pose a risk? I think a lot of Londoners will potentially be affected by this. I think Mortgage Advisors and even Solicitors have a duty of care to ensure that they make their clients aware of this issue. I certainly wish someone had warned me about this earlier. Never-the-less. It's happened now, so I need to minimize the damage and find a way forward.
I'm particularly interested in the lender's valuation because as I say, there's no point you looking for an alternative lender if the same thing is going to happen because the valuer suggests future saleability is damaged.

A new lender will only take it on if it feels it has a decent chance of selling the property following repossession. It's worth bearing mind, the lender has a mortgage protection clause, allowing it to purchase the remaining share from the HA in those circumstances, so it could be selling the whole property then.

  • Hello All,

Update: I have sent a link to this thread to my Barclays Mortgage Advisor. They have initiated a complaints procedure and I have just been informed they will be in touch shortly. I will update you all on what they have to say.

    You're a blue then, GMS.

My wife was born in Birkenhead and most of her Mum's side are red. Fortunately, her Dad was United from from Salford and I'm United from Eccles, so we don't let them get away with too much. :D

My daughter sings FC United songs, as that's where I now spend my Saturdays, when I'm not working.

I've just seen the OP's last and I'm blethering on about football.

  • I will ask them for a copy of their valuation. Thanks for that advice.

The appointment of Moyes tells you all you need to know about the Glazers.... a journeyman" yes man" manager who is so grateful to get the job that he won't kick up a fuss about lack of transfer funds etc.

I'll support him 100% and give him a chance, but I fear he will be another Frank O'Farrell/ Dave Sexton:(

Apologies from me too for highjacking the thread. Mortgages are by job, football is my passion :o

  • Further Update:

Just had a call from Jackie Grant, Barclays Complaint Handler. She has assured me that she will look further into this. She will talk to the Valuer directly when she finishes her shift. She sounds sympathetic - but we'll see what happens next!
