HSBC also seems to handle their fraud checks, which can have its own source of pain for First Direct or HSBC customers using investments. That team seems not to like investment-related transactions. Which is rather sad for those who have a FD interest only offset mortgage with investments as the repayment strategy, who can like me end up being effectively told you can't use the packaged current account for transactions related to the mortgage's own repayment strategy.

Consistent thinking from product marketing and sale through to service delivery doesn't seem to be an area of strength for them. Which is sad because the FD part seems to do well if allowed to just get on with things itself.

Since you also seem to be using investments as part of your repayment strategy, sadly, I think you're probably better off elsewhere. I don't have experience with the RBS brand itself but the NatWest part hasn't caused me any troubles, it just gets on with the job. Not sure that their mortgage deals are competitive, though.
