that helps hugely when I'm out running. I find that the more I stretch the tape when applying it the more it keeps things where they should be.
It might all be waffle but it helps me
Kinesio. It's also known as KT tape, I think. Rocktape does the same thing.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You need to go to a proper running shop like Up and Running who will advise you properly on proper running trainers. Many in fact the majority of sports shops sell fashion trainers and these are not good enough for proper running.
Proper running shops will do a proper assessment of you needs and look at you on the treadmill as well etc as has already been said.
Its worth spending the money to avoid future injury and ask the shop how often they need to be changed as well. I was told at about 500 or so miles, its not when the trainers are dropping to bits.0 -

eh? If the trainers are dropping to bits, they do need to be replaced. I did about 250 miles in my first pair before developing a serious hip injury because they'd been worn down. It would have been stupid to carry on wearing shoes which cause me such serious pain that I couldn't put any weight on my right hip.

Sorry if I didnt explain that well. I was told that the shoes needed replacing at 500 miles not ages later when they were dropping to pieces. I was told that even if they looked o.k then they still needed replacing at this point because they would be worn inside the sole.
Obviously if the shoes are falling to pieces before the 500 mile point you would replace them.0 -
a Podiatrist will give you a Biomechanical and get you custom made insoles for your trainers/shoes.
I had a gait analysis done at my local sports shop, got a pair of bloody expensive trainers and it turns out I have one leg shorter than the other and NO amount of special expensive trainers is gonna fix that.
I now have special insoles in my trainers and OMG! how much better are my knees and hips!
I can walk miles, I can work all day on my feet, I can go running without falling over my own feet, and my natural stride is improving now I have the confidence.just in case you need to know:
