Thanks for stopping in Triangle, I'm looking forward to following your journey.

I will let you all know how I get on tomorrow. Feeling like I have ants in my pants. Funnily enough, exactly the same way as when I took out my dmp!

I made it. Today is my debt free date. I'm feeling very emotional, I called stepchange to let them know and I was told 'congratulations, you are now debt free.'

Today wasn't easy though. Mbna were great and let me clear the balance, gave me good advice on getting any over payment back on potential interest.

    Hsbc, on the other hand...

I spent an hour in total on the phone to them today, just to be told that they can't take payment for credit cards from other banks over the telephone.

Then went into branch to find out that I can't pay it with my debit card from another bank, and that I would have to go to my own bank and ask them to transfer it across.

My answer was 'can't I just withdraw the cash and pay it here?' and I was told yes, I could do that - so why not offer that as a solution, rather than having me traipse back to my own bank?!

Then, once finally paid,l had a chat with the woman working there about closing my accounts and why, and I explained that I had been in debt and that this was my final payment... She than asked me why I didn't go to them for help.

I did go to them for help and they refused me.

She said she was very sorry for this.

One thing I've learned about hsbc today, they're happy to hound you when you haven't got it, but when you have - they really don't want you to leave.

    Good riddance hsbc...
