Woolwich mortgage arrears

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this but I am at my wits end.

Unfortunately I changed my mortgage at the start of last year to Woolwich which had a better rate, more fool me I think. Anyways not that long after this change I lost my job due to ill health. I had saving and managed to continue paying my mortgage in full until April of this year. I contacted them in October of last year explaining my situation as it tells you to do and was told there was nothing I could do until I had the mortgage for a year. I contacted them again in April and was told there was nothing I could do until I had the mortgage 18 months. I complained and was sent out a expenses sheet to fill which I promptly did including a letter from my gp explaining my various ailments. Then I was told there was nothing they could do. I am currently receiving ESA and dwp are paying a set amount each month to the mortgage company as SMI. I have no spare money and struggling with what I have.

The company refuse to suggest any concessions despite my numerous attempts from both myself and via the cab. Yet they continue to charge me for being in arrears sending out frequent letters which is not helping my mental health at all. With the majority of these letters they send information on what to do if you can't afford your mortgage which I have followed but they are unwilling to listen.

Before this I have never had any debt never missed a mortgage payment.

has anyone got any advice or anywhere I can turn to next ?
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

If the mortgage is unaffordable then your options are limited.

I want to change to interest only for a bit till I get my health improved and get myself a job. Obviously this can't continue forever but I would just like a bit of breathing space. There is going to come a time when I need to seriously look at my options but I not there quite yet and if they would just lay off for a bit and give me some help for a short period I could concentrate on getting better.

  • If you don't have payment protection insurance and benefits are not covering the payment, it rather depends on the timeframe. I'm sure that this has crossed your mind, but you may need to sell up
So many glitches, so little time...
